At the age of 10, Gary
took piano lessons, then guitar lessons, then drums lessons. He was thrilled with drums
and became hooked. Within a few short years, he went on to take third place at a state
high school competition, at the age of seventeen. He would have taken first place, but a
Russian mobster paid off the judges and he ended up with 3rd! Before college he
was chosen by his jazz band instructor to tag along with Ed Shawnessy. He has played with
the Oregon State University band in Tokyo. He has also played in too many "day
care" bands, where taking care of emotional band members took much of his time. He
finds that Aphasia is a challenging band with killer music. He is blown away that he
actually has the privilege to participate in the creative side of songwriting, which is
another great thing about the band. This band is definitely going places. To sum up, he
loves to go "Bang Bang." When people ask him if he plays drums, he say "Yes
and also the dashboard, steering wheel, etc." Gary owns his own business as a general
contractor. He does great work! |
